They wanted to go to ‘Hard Rock Cafe ‘ in Roppongi so they went and they enjoyed Roppongi by Night. We wondered how they thought about bustle Roppongi night where multi national atmosphere.

Also they enjoyed local food such as Sushi and Tempura.  Now a days, Japanese cuisene became popular in overseas and not so unusual for foreigners.  However, Japanese food in Japan is deffinitely tasty and all scouts visited us enjoyed real Japanese food.

Families who took polish scouts for homestay are:
Tanabe Vice President of Toop 1 Meguro
Narusawa scout’s family
Komatsu scout’s family
Wagner scout’s family

International exchange is one of the mosts appealing thing of scout activities together with outdoor activities.  Homestay will provide a rare opportunity for us to learn about culture as well as customs of foreign counties.   Troop 1 Meguro also sent contingents to overseas Jamboree in the past and welcome by many families overseas.  Despite of differences of culture and languages, while we involve in Scout actibities, it gives each othrer comfort and frienfsip. This would be very different from legular homestay. If you have as chance to have a homestay for boyscout, take the opportunity.

The Japanese school year starts in April, and this is the best time for us to recruit new scouts. We create leaflets and circulate to near-by primary schools. The best way to introduce our activities to each child is to have him/her try out as a member of the corresponding troop by age group. So, we have “Troop 1 Meguro Open Troop Fun Day” for scout candidates.

All the troop members from Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, to Venture Scouts, and many Scouts’ parents were here to support this Open Troop Fun Day.

1

Kevin, who leads our sister Troop 12 in Richmond, Canada also participated and gave a speech to our Scouts in Japanese. All of the troops and candidates listened to his speech very carefully.

2

You really feel that Scout activity is international and we are part of it! Of course, in return, Troop 1 Meguro President Takane made a speech in English to our troops.

Parents’ support of Scout activities is indispensable.

3

We have 23 Scout candidates to this day, and that success was brought about by parents who went around to primary schools to hand in promotion leaflets as well as parents who participated on the day helping onsite registration desks and giving guidance to each candidate’s parent(s) from his/her own experience of scout activities.

Each Troop also had its role in the event.
Boy Scouts stayed overnight and prepared pancakes for Scout candidates and parents.

4

Venture Scouts made a communication tower which was started in the very early morning on that day for the scout game.

6

We had a good Open Troop Day.

Hope all candidates who came to visit on the day will join us and bring their friends, too. We continue to promote Troop 1 Meguro to schools and pre-schools in the neighborhood.

Troop 1 Meguro celebrated its 65th Anniversary at Yukoden (Grand Hall) of Yutenji Temple on Sunday, 31st May 2015. The weather forecast of the day was raining but, it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day, just as though the Sun joined our celebration.

Scouts of all age groups, leaders, Committee members, and parents were all gathered. One of the biggest supporters of troop 1 Meguro, Mr. Aoki, our City Mayor, came together with his fellow members of Meguro Committee to celebrate our anniversary. A hundred people were attended.

After the break, the second session started with very nice and tasty lunch followed by 65 years history of Troop 1 Meguro slide show, presented by Mr. Kenichiro Tanabe, vice president of Troop 1 Meguro who has been with Troop 1 Meguro for a long time. It was really something for Scouts and parents to see the photos how Troop 1 Meguro has established and also found leaders in the photos when they were Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts enjoying camps just like we are.

The final session of the Anniversary Session was a presentation by guest speaker Ms. Momoko Abe who is Fuji Award winner. She took the opportunity to grant funds specially given to Fuji Award winner to be able to go overseas. She also participated in the last World Scout Jamboree held in Sweden.
